Antoine Marius LaTour

French, 1829- 1884

Latour studied under Jules Lacquet and exhibited at the Paris Salon and the Salon des Artistes Francais where he received honorable mention from 1866 to 1882.  He also took part in the first Impressionist exhibition at Nadar’s gallery in 1874.  His landscapes of the banks of the Seine, Normany, and the Barbizon region reflect his concern to capture the effects of light and the setting sun.
